Hi all, This is kinda embarrasing (because of my rambling emotional e-mail), and kinda cool (because I got a reply). Anyway, listening to Dave Dobynns Welcome Home after he was on 60mins the other day I got to thinking, so i e-mailed Daves manager, and, whaddya know, the man himself replied. Here's how it went. Me: Hi Lorraine, I merely wanted to express my gratitude to Dave for ‘moving my heart’. I am sure I am one of hundreds if not more that e-mail him with similar stories, but I felt the need to release my thoughts. My heart has been hardened by many experiences, just like so many others, that I’ve been through, one of which is so common, yet not talked about. My first daughter was stillborn just 3 days before I was due to give birth, she would have been 5 this coming June. Her death among other things, have made me build a wall around my heart, and I have trouble ‘feeling’, even when I know I should. Dave’s song Welcome Home, although I know was written as an anti racial song, allows my heart to feel again even if for a moment. I often dream about ‘welcoming home’ my daughter, the woman with trembling hands is me, and my memories are as huge as a mountain, I have made a place for her in our family, all our families heart are open to her. So please, thank Dave for me, I understand he is a busy sought after man and my story will be a mere blip on his radar, but I get the feeling, that blip will mean something to him.
