Post Hello,I'm new here
Hi everyone!
My name is Michelle,
I lost my son Noah at 38 weeks 31/2 yrs ago. He was my 6th baby and it was totally unexpected. I went in for a routine check and thee was no heartbeat. It has been a hard road since we lost him.We never found out why.
We did try again and thankfully 11 mths later our daughter Rebekah was born safely at 37 wks.
I have joined a few different pg loss forums bit have never found a nz one so I was pleased to find this one!
I have been a member of SANDS since Noah died and wouldn't be where I am today without them.
I'm actually going to the SANDS conference in Wellington in October.
Anyway I look forward to getting to know you all.
Michelle

Hi Noahsmum,
Just want to welcome you to the group. I am normally hanging around the m/c board as I lost my baby at nearly twelve weeks, just over 4 months ago.
Sorry to hear to your of your loss and am pleased you found a place of support to help you thru the sad times.
Everybody from these boards tends to help everyone, as we have all lost in some way!
And yes I agree with you, nice to know there is a NZ site now for the many that need it!
Take care and look forward to chatting and getting to know you

Hi Michelle,
Firstly, I am sorry for your loss. Glad you posted, I look forward to getting to know you. We decided to put this site together for the very reason that there wasn't a NZ based site, and it happens to be something my DH is really good at (bless his heart). Perhaps we'll see you in the chat room one day. It's quite uplifting to hear of successful pregnancies after a loss. By what you have said I presume you were pg 2 months after your loss, is that correct? I only ask because I am trying again and am quite anxious, and it's nice to know that it can happen. I'd also be interested about the sands meeting you are going to, like, what sorts of things are covered in it?
Once again welcome...

Hi Michelle

I'm glad you have found us, this is a great place for support.

I usually post on the miscarriage board, as I lost my baby four weeks ago after finding out at the 16 week scan that baby had died six weeks before hand as the heart had stopped beating. I already have a son who turns two in a couple of weeks.

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your son Noah, I can't imagine the pain you are going through.

Take Care of yourself

Hi Michelle, welcome. Yes it is great to have a NZ site to come to, I have been on a few American ones, which are great, but it is good to have some kiwi friends too.

I am also a member of SANDS here in Auckland, I do the support packs and deliver to the hospital. I am also hopeing to get to the conference in Wellington, might met you there. Have you been to one before??

Hope you find this site as welcoming as I have.

Manda,
Thankyou for the welcome!
I am very happy that I foud this site and I think its great that you started it!

To answer your questions,I had Noah on Jan 5th 02 and I found out I was pg on April 14th 02. So yes it was really soon after.
My dr wanted me to wait 3 mths so I think I just fitted into that. The reason I wanted another baby so soon was that somehow I felt that I just had to finish what I had started in Noahs pregnancy. Somehow it didnt seem right to have gone through so much and have no baby. Plus my age as I was 39 and felt there wasnt much point in waiting too long.
It was however quite a stressful pregnancy with not knowing if things would go wrong again. My dr decided to deliver Rebekah at 37 wks since Noahs heart stopped at 38 wks.
She has been such a blessing to us and has helped heal our broken hearts but of course there is a hole that no one can ever fill and we miss him so very much!

About our SANDS group, well we are mainly a support group made up of 10 or so ladies who have all been through a still birth or a late m/c etc ,we give out bags to the newly bereaved and offer support to them. We have meetings once a month and it varies as to what we talk about. I have found it wonderful and would encourage anyone if they havent already to see if they have one in their town.

I wish you all the best in concieving again and please let me know if I can help in any way with questions etc.
Thanks again and look forward to talking more.
BTW when do you have the chatroom open?

I didn't get to the last one and 3 ladies went from our group and they got so much out of it.
So tell me about your group,is it very big?
We also do the hospital bags. I will never forget when I lost Noah that I had a SANDS lady come visit me with a bag,I have been involved ever since.
