My precious little pearl,
It’s been almost 2 years now since we said hello and goodbye. Your name isn’t spoken out loud as often as it was in those early days. But I still think of you every single day. You are my second-born child and I am so proud of you. My heart still aches for you and my whole body longs to touch and cuddle you again. I don’t think that feeling will ever go away.

I am full of regret that we didn’t spend longer together. I wish that I’d held you for longer in hospital. I wish we’d taken more photos. I wish we’d brought you home to meet the family. Your dad and I were just so scared and stunned, we didn’t know what to do. We loved and wanted you so much and we hope that you knew that.

You now have a baby sister and whenever I look at her I wonder what you would have been like. Your big brother speaks about you every so often and tells me how sad he is that you died. We are all looking forward to the day when we will see you again in Heaven. Your Granny has joined you there now and I hope you are enjoying getting to know each other.

It’s been monarch butterfly season and I love watching them come and sit on the swan plant outside our kitchen window. It reminds me of you, that fragile little body, and those beautiful wings.

On Mother’s Day I think of each of my three children and feel so lucky, so proud that I have been blessed with each of them.
