Tomorrow is Maria's 2nd birthday and last Monday we asked my Mum & Dad if they will join us for lunch for her day. We asked them to their faces and they just sat there and didn't reply. Then on Wednesday Mum told me that they'd have to look at their diary and check if they were busy, and she'd get back to me.

So far she hasn't got back to me.

I feel so let down, it's bad enough that they hardly talk to us about Maria, let alone the fact that they should know that 9 June is her birthday! They shouldn't have to "look at the diary" to find out if they are too busy to support us on the saddest day of the year. Last year they were overseas and didn't even contact us on the day (and I had reminded them!)

I feel really down in the dumps today, this was the day I found out that she had died. It never really gets any easier does it?

I am making a caterpillar cake for Maria for tomorrow, and we'll get 2 helium balloons to let go off the top of the hill where her ashes are scattered. I am determined to make tomorrow a celebration of her short life and our love for her so to hell with my family!

(GRRR... can you tell I'm angry?!)

Thats aweful Alana, I don't understand how people can be so apparently uncaring, least of all family. If they hadn't been reminded and aksed to come to lunch you could almost understand nothing being said due to being unsure what to say, but having an open invitation......confusing.......totally understandable that you are angry. Sounds like you have similar plans to us for Trinitys second.

Alana and family ny thoughts are with you all today, hope the day went okay for you. You are in our hearts and in our thoughts.

Hope it was gentle on you all today.

Thank you everyone for your understanding and your thoughts. Well mum & dad did come, they let us know late Friday night that they would be joining us. It was good to have them there although they didn't actually mention Maria at all to us. Nick & Claire from Sands with their baby Zoe also joined us and it made it so much easier being with people who really do understand what it's like. We had beautiful weather and managed to climb the hill where Maria rests.

Two funny coincidences happened to me. On Friday, I realised that I was wearing the same jersey that I had been wearing exactly 2 years ago when I found out that Maria had died. On Saturday morning, Julia woke at 5am (which she NEVER does) which was exactly the same time that I had woken that morning before going to hospital to be induced.
