Thanks Debs.

Doc said everything sounds positive. With the 2 miscarriages I never got sore boobs and I do this time, and I've been feeling a little sick which he says is great lol. Great for who?? He doesn't want me to have a scan until dec 1st because I'll be 8 weeks then and apparently they see the heartbeat better. So a nerve racking couple of weeks to go. Feeling ok at the mo but a friend miscarried today which makes me even more nervous. She was 13 weeks too. So sad.

Think happy thoughts!!!

Yay! With the last miscarriage I only got to 400 so already doing way better! My doctor is very happy and wants to see me again after the scan next week. I'm booked in with a midwife too. It's all very exciting really although the countdown to the scan is taking FOREVER!!!

Whew...ok...had the scan yesterday and saw a heartbeat! YAY. With the 2 miscarriages we never saw anything at the scans so that is a huge relief! Now just have to wait out the next 5 weeks (the scan put me at 7 weeks today) so I can relax a little bit more then I will relax properly when I have a baby in my arms!

I went to the doctor today and he wants to test me for a strep infection which he said would definately end pregnancys. The reason he has thought of it is because with all 4 pregnancys I have had a sore throat at some stage quite early on. So I had to do a swab today and another one at 36 weeks, and he said he knows my midwife won't like it but he thinks it's necessary! :) So as much as I dislike the swab process, I like that my doctor cares enough to test everything he thinks of. While the nurse was doing it though she said my cervix was quite red and she got one of those long swab things they do the smear tests with and I was thinking "if you touch my cervix and make me loose my baby I'm guna kick you in the head"! A bit OTT lol but I was nervous. She didn't touch it though she just wanted to see it better and she decided it was just red because I'm pregnant...??????

Anyhoo all good so far...come on 12 weeks!

Sounds really good Nat! :D

Re the Strep...i thought strep B that they swab for and strep in your throat were completely different? And if you tested positive for it now would they do anything? Because 30% of pregnant woman carry it during pregnancy. I tested positive for Step B at 36 weeks so had ABs in labour but i never had anything at the time they found it???...i had to ask for the swab and personally think every woman should be routinly tested..i think this is standard in australia and the USA.
Just want to learn more incase i every have another pregnancy.

Anyway things are sounding great.. looking foward to hearing more updates :)

Hey Debs,
Yup the doctor did say they are 2 different things but he also said that the strep B can give you a sore throat as well, but doesn't necessarily. He has just thought of it as a possibility because of the sore throats when I'm pregnant. But the swab must have been negative because I haven't heard from him. My midwife also brought it up and she said that it is standard in oz but not here and she doesn't know why but she wants to test me for it as well with a urine test. Funny that I've never heard of it but both my doctor and my midwife want to test me for it without knowing that the other has also haha. I did tell her after she brought it up that my doctor did swabs for it.

Met my midwife this week. She's lovely and I look forward to getting to know her. I decided to use a different midwife just because I wanted something different and this one has been recommended by my midwife friend and by another friend who has also used her.

8 weeks now. Feeling sick ALL THE TIME!!!!! Stink! Haha. I never felt sick with Dreyton so it's all new to me and I'm trying to come up with ways to stop it and so far the only method that works is making sure I don't get hungry but that's not always easy when working! It'll pass I'm sure!

It'd be good if they made strep B testing standard...theres a lady in my SANDS group whose baby died from it (with a very negligent mw). A simple test and AB's can save babys lives. \

Keep up the frequent eating, i got bad morning sickness with all my 3 and found that helped...i also tried the acupressure wristbands and thought they were worth it. Seabands they are called. Also there something called preggy pops?? My SIL said she found them good...or even sucking on lollies at work might be good inbetween breaks?

Glad youve got a good MW and Dr looking after you :)

A quick update...I am 12 weeks today! Yay. As we are still in Oz the scan isn't booked until tuesday next week (we get back on monday) so I will let you all know how that goes. I won't tell anyone until after that because I don't want to jump the gun. Otherwise everything is going great!
