Hi everyone
Just thought I would give you all a quick update on me...
Well I am feeling ALOT better after my long course of antibiotics but I guess that's not surprising if I did have pnuemonia like the specialist thinks
I also had a scan on Friday afternoon just to check bubs' growth and everything looked great. Apparently bubs is "the perfect average NZ baby" and measured right on dates. Out of interest, I asked how big they are now - 1.25kg!!! and lying transverse or across my tum rather than up and down.
Hope you are all doing well.
Claire

Good to hear you are feeling alot better and that bubs is good.
Kairyn was quite fond of the transverse lie but your bubs still has plenty of time to turn
Hugs
Jacqui

Claire I am glad to hear that you are feeling so much better, you've had such a bad run. You must be relieved that baby is measuring right and looking good. Joel was transverse throughout my whole pregnancy and was born facing sideways - he never made up his mind which way he wanted to face!

Hi there
Haven't done an update on me for ages...have been sitting tight hoping not to get sick again and so far, so good healthwise.
Unfortunately though the nausea and tiredness has returned with a vengence and I've also been getting lots of back ache and mild contractions. After several nights without much sleep I contacted the mw covering for my mw (she's on bereavement leave) and she got me to come into delivery suite for assessment. The monitor definitely confirmed I'm having regularish cxs but they are still very much pre-labour at the moment and I've been told to rest up and keep my body and "uterus" as relaxed as possible. Luckily there was no sign of dilation just softening of the cervix but bubs is apparently fully engaged and labour should be reasonably quick once it's established so I'm still a little on edge. Apparently if bubs is born in the next week or so, they will need to be taken to neonates and I really want bubs with me.
Anyway, fingers crossed everything will stay status quo for at least a week, preferably two...oh and legs crossed too - LOL
Take care everyone.
Claire

Wow, not long to go, how exciting
Fingers crossed for you Deanie, that your little one stays put for a little while longer
I had the same thing with the threat of premature labour and found when I overdid it the contractions started, so feet up and rest as much as possible.
Hope you manage to get some good night sleeps and that you won't be plauged by nausea for the rest of your pregnancy.
Take care
Jacqui

Thanks for your replies
Telly - I'm not really sure whether the cxs were Braxton Hicks or not. They seemed a bit regular and went on for too long to be real Braxton Hicks but they weren't strong enough to be real labour pains either if that makes sense. The back ache/pressure was my biggest worry because that's how my labour with Zac started and I got to 9cm before anyone paid any attention. Apparently my uterus was contracting in the back (rather than the usual front) and since the monitors were picking up very little, they thought it couldn't be labour. Boy were they wrong!!!!! He was 4 weeks early too so with that history I am at some risk of prem labour. Had really hoped that I would have a labour like with my second son Noah - 8 hours start to finish at 39 weeks.
Jacqui - It does sound like the same thing that happened to you. I have been trying to relax as much as possible but the chores are mounting. My DH is being great though and very caring. We are determined to keep this baby in there as long as possible. Oh and the mw told me to take Panadeine (rather than Panadol which was doing little for the pain) so I did have one good night sleep on Saturday. Last night was all crampy again so who knows what is happening...will have to keep you posted.
Claire

Claire I hope you can leave those chores (hard when probably you might be feeling nesty!) but the chore won't get done if babe comes early so I'm hoping all the resting up will encourage your baby to stay put a while longer.
Do you know what position they are in now? (sorry if I missed it mentioned earlier I just saw transverse). If they are posterior you will feel the discomfort much more at the back and maybe you doing lots of hands and knees crawling now will help them swing around anterior - makes for a much easier labour!
Sounds like it would be good to demand regular internal checks to see how dilated you are!
Well I am thinking of you and sendiing 'wait on' thoughts to baby - I hope you get safely to that 39 weeks again.
All the best.
Melanie
