So I am 6 weeks pg tomorow - feeling VERY tired. (two pgs in a short time at now 40 years old - gees!).

Need to figure out how to do the pg ticker thing.

Had my hcg BTs done last week and they were all good and I must say I am feeling pg!

We are due on the 12th of February 2007 all going well and I have already booked a specialist to help ensure we have a live baby this time.

I am so very happy to be pg before Amelie's 1st birthday on the 8th of August. What sorts of things have you been doing on the day??

I hear you on the being exhausted part of pregnancy, and I'm a way off 40 yet. I remember lots of people being very suprised that I didn't want to get pregnant immediately after I lost our baby, they just didn't seem to realise how physically exhausting pregnancy really is (not to mention emotionally draining). I had a good 8 months between pregnancies and definately needed it to prepare myself in every way.

Try and get some rest while you can! I've got a bad case of insomnia which I've never experienced before, and everyone keeps telling me to enjoy being able to sleep before the baby comes..........LOL yeah right!

Hi Melanie - Yay 6 weeks!!!!! That is a great milestone especially with rising HCG levels and that icky preggie feeling.

How is your DH doing? Is he treating you like a princess? Cooking your favourite meals? I hope so

Yay for 6 weeks Melanie! Half way thru first tri already! I hope the morning sickness stays away and you get plenty of time to rest.

DH is SO happy when the positive pg result came up he said he felt a huge weight lift from him.

He is helping me cook when I need and will do whatever I ask (long may it last eh?!)

I got my 6 week HCG BT results today and its 36,100 which is apparently fine. I'm a little worried with feeling this tired I might have twins in there?(Runs in DH''s family)Emma I was wondering do you have any clues from when you were first pg?

Yes at this stage I will have the first 2007 baby!

Trying to remember but I think my 6 week Beta was 48,000? Something like that. But Betas don't always show up higher if there are twins. Other than that I was just really tired and sick with ms.

Are you having a scan? My first scan at 6 weeks showed one heartbeat, the second at 9 weeks showed 2!

Thanks for that Emma, sounds like your hcgs were higher than mine so it would be a surprise if I am incubating two!Not that we can tell yet as you say.

I am having a scan next week - my very nice specialist (Jeremy Touhy) just rang me himself to discuss things as he is going away. So that will be good - its to be sure to get the dates right so the other end we can be sure not to end up with a prem baby nor too late (we were 11 days over with Amelie and I don't see myself going even a day over this time).

I've been resting up alot (have cut back on work drastically) and this is helping me feel better.

I also think the tiredness is due to still processing the unresolved grief over losing Amelie.Did anyone else find this to be the case? Last night I allowed myself to really start to love our new little one cos if they don't survive then at least I have loved them and the extra grief won't be any worse or more for that.

I find myself thinking of Amelie so much now and looking at her photo. Still just want her back - does that feeling EVER go away?

I don't think that feeling of wanting your little angel back will ever go away but the painful feelings that come with it fade over time. I was just saying to Manda the other day, that when I first lost Riley, I could never imagine not waking up crying and feeling so sad all the time and now just over a year on I smile more than I cry, but I still want Riley here with me just as much as I did a year ago.
Pregnancy after loss, I think, is much harder emotionally and phsyically, so it's good that you are resting up.
It can be hard at first to allow ourselves to love our new little one, so I am glad that you are allowing that for you and your wee bubs.

Melanie (big hugs) to you. and congrats on your pregnancy. Heres to an uneventful 9 months.

Jacqui has summed it up pretty well, you never forget your lost one, but it does get easier. I find myself, now thinking of Ashley a lot more than I did a year ago. (more time to myself I guess). I want her back so badly, but realise it is never going to happen.

Now I have cut right back on work and have had a cold for the past few days which turned into a chest infection this morning... so I'm feeling quite poorly but more concerned about how this will be for our little bean as its such an important time in development. All I seem to be doing is resting at the mo.

I have my first scan (for dating) on Tuesday and I am feeling anxious as the last pg scan I had was during labour when they said they could not find our baby's heartbeat and it was such a shock. I'm worried they will not find a heart beat on Tuesday morning. Gees I am paranoid! I just thought you guys might understand.

I totally understand your fear Melanie, I dreaded the early scans, always afraid that they would be unable to find a HB but I could not have got through the pregnancy without all the scans.

Hi Melanie

I totally understand how all those memories come flooding back everytime you have a scan. I can't even stand looking at the ultrasound building here in New Plymouth because it brings back some horrible feelings, kinda like reliving the event each time. I'm not sure that it gets easier either, I think its one of those 'post traumatic stress' things, that keeps getting triggered by familiar events.

I liked the way you talked about how you are trying to bond with this baby, so that you know (and it knows) that it has been loved. It is a really hard thing to let yourself do after suffering such a loss before. I really think that I have had trouble with letting myself have those feelings this pregnancy, sometimes its there but other times I find myself not quite believing that we'll ever bring a baby home. Had to give myself a stern talking to last night about it because you are right, you don't ever want to have to live with that guilt too.

Good to hear that you are taking it easy with work too. Your body will be thanking you for it I'm sure.

At least if we have a heart beat tomorow the odds go up hugely.

Well we had our 7 week scan this morning and saw our lttle beans heart beat blinking away!

So so so happy to have this confirmed and I am feeling much more positive for the pregnancy now.
