Ok so I'm freaking out a bit or should I say alot, a couple of nights ago I was in a lot of pain so midwife sent me off for a scan on wednesday morning to make sure bubs was all good, and there he was with his nice strong heartbeat, he even managed to give me the peace sign :) anyway so I'm thinking all is good, but then I hear back from my who tells me she is concerned with BB3's growth rate and I have to have another scan in 10 days to assess this, the report says that the head and femur length measurements fall just above the 5th percentile for GA, so after having a bit of search on the net have found that babies who's measurements are in the 10th percentile or less are considered IUGR.
So now I'm really concerned about my little bubs as in some cases this can result in stillbirth or death during labour.
I know I'm probably totally over-reacting but I can't help it

Anyway just had to share this, so thanks for listening

Jacqui how scary, I'm guessing IUGR means inuterine growth restricted?. Sending loads of growth vibes bub way. Is there anything they can do to help bubs grow? Sometimes this internet thing can be more stress than it's worth. Hope yourself assessment is WAY wrong. Keep us posted on how your next scan goes. We're all here to help you through the next 10 days (and the rest).

Jacqui what an awful thing to hear - must be so scary for you.

At least maybe now something can be done to help your little one along, I mean this extra knowledge must be helpful at this time and its pretty early on so he has lots of time to grow before labour. At least his heart is beating really well and he is clearly moving well.

Did you have a 20 week scan? How was his growth then?

Sending your baby lots of big growth thoughts and you lots of hugs.

Oh Jacqui I am sending growth vibes your way too. I am so sorry that you have this stress. BIG HUGS. I am so glad that the heart rate is good. I hope all looks well in 10 days.

Manda has a good point, sometimes the internet can add to your stress. It is important to stay informed, but my OB told me to stay off the internet after I started researching my anti-E online. Instead he emailed me actually studies from medical journals to read. You can find these online-they help.

Thanks girls :)
I know I shouldn't have searched on the net for info, as yes it does seem to cause more stress.
I will just wait as patiently as I can for our next scan and hope that all is good :)

Hugs Jacqui!

I'm not sure if you remember but when I was 30 weeks with the gremlins I had a growth scan that showed Mercedes abdo circ had dropped below the 10th and my m/w was talking about induction at 32 weeks if she didn't stabilise or pick up. Then I had another scan a week later and her abdo circ was BIGGER than it should have been for gest - turns out that she had been lying funny and they hadn't gotten an accurate measurement on the earlier scan. So maybe your lil man was just playing tricks on you too.

Thinking of you and sending your lil man some growth vibes!

Hi Jacqui
Big hugs from me too! I had the same sort of thing with Julia, at 32 weeks her abdo circ was small and the specialist was worried (it could indicate that the placenta was not working properly) and ordered another scan in 2 weeks. I was absolutely freaking out as I had been told that most likely with Maria the placenta failed and that's why Maria had died. The following scan was fine, I was told that these measurements can be hard to do accurately. (I'd had different sonographers do each scan)

Here's hoping that your scan wasn't accurate and all your measurements are just fine when they redo them.

Thanks for all the growing vibes girls :)
I had a midwife appointment yesterday and asked if I had anything to be concerned about and was told that I only really need to be concerned if bubs measurements drop below the 5th percentile, so that was kind of reassuring and I'm having the follow up scan tomorrow, so that will be good to see how bubs is doing and hopefully he is growing well.

Well I went had my scan and all looks good, bubs is growing fine, he's just going to be a small one.
I have to go for another scan in 2-3 weeks just to be sure he is growing well, so for now I can rest easy.

Also think this bubs is a shy one as everytime I have peek he is always holding his hands over his face, maybe he's just trying to play peek-a-boo :)

Things are not going so well at the moment for me, bubs is all good, so that is what matter most, but I think I'm falling apart :blue:

On a brighter note the countdown is on only 36 days at the most to go till BB3 makes his entrance, I have an appointment with the specialist next friday to set the date for induction, and I have decided on either the 11th or the 14th, the 14th is preferable but that is a saturday, so I'm not sure if they do inductions on a saturday, but we will see.

I'm having another 4d scan tomorrow, mainly to check where the damn cord is (how ironic is it that the cord is the life line for bubs but at the same time has the power to end his life) anyway, I can't wait to see BB3 :excited: I have to focus on all the good things and try and keep positive.
Will post a pic tomorrow, just cause I love to show my baby off :D

Jacqui

:bighug: Jacqui

I know this must be a really scary time for you and I suppose there are lots of not so good memories to deal with too.

I'll keep my :crossf: and be wishing you :goodluck: for the weeks ahead.

It really does help to focus on the positive stuff. I did lots of meditation and visualisation at the end of my last pregnancy and I think it helped put things in perspective for me.

Hi Jacqui, thanks for keeping us updated. Sometimes the last few weeks are the worst, they seem to be the slowest. Sending you lots of love and big hugs. Looking forward to seeing your scan pic.

P.S. meant to ask ages ago how you are going on choosing names for your little man
