Timothy Charles Frampton Birth Story
It all started on the 12th September 2006 I went for my normal specialist appointment and told the doc i had been having alot of pain, so he decided it was best for me to be admitted and they would run some tests. They did bloods and monitored me. Well at 2am on wednesday morning I awoke with chest pains that had me in tears, I rang the bell and the midwife came in and checked me over and went away and got another midwife as well, they did the normal checks BP and temp. They then went away and called the doctor, she came in about 20 minutes later and checked me over and decided to do a ecg and a ctg, well the ecg was fine, the ctg showed bubs was ok, but I was having contractions and that is what the chest pains were, so they just monitored me for a hour or so, the contractions eased off then came back and then eased off again. So the doctor decided that they wouldnt rush in there and then and deliver him they would wait till the morning when there would be more people around to help as it wasnt going to be a easy procedure due to the fact it was my 4th caesar and lots of scar tissue. So I tried to sleep but to no avail, I rang Simon at 6am to tell him he better not go to work and come up here. So he did. Well we waited round in the morning to see the doctor and she came in and assessed me and said the plan was that she was going to talk to Mr Haslam (my specialist) about bringing the caesar forward and then if he gave the A ok she would ring delivery see when they could fit me in. Well just before lunch they got me prepped and the midwife from delivery arrived to take me down to delivery suite to wait. Debbie arrived about 12.30 and said I was on the board to go in about 1 to 1.30 but we didnt get into theatre till nearer 2 by the time they did all the paperwork and so on. Everything went well till they got into Timothy to discover he was breech and not head down like we had all thought. It took them 5 minutes to get his head out and this freaked me out. But they got him out and then newborn unit was called in as he was having difficulty breathing, they watched him for a few minutes and decided he needed to go up to the unit to go on machines to help him breath. I saw my lil man for 2 minutes then he was gone, this hit me soo hard as it all came back to me. I couldnt stop crying. Simon went with Timothy and to let mum and pip know what was happening. So they proceeded to do my tubal ligation and sew me up. I was then transferred to recovery where mum, pip and the girls were waiting for me. I was watched there for about an hour then transferred up to the ward. It was soo hard because all I wanted to do was get outta bed and go see my baby, but no i knew if i pushed it too soon I would regret it. So I stayed put and waited till the next morning and I managed to get up and into a wheelchair and Simon and Pip took me down to Nicu. Timothy was doing ok, he was off the cpap (oxygen to help him breath), he just had a drip in for fluids and antibiotics (due to him having swallowed meconium at birth). I got to have my first cuddle and also try and bottle feed him, but he wasnt interested in the bottle so they put a tube down the back of his throat to feed him. Things progressed well, he spent 4 days in Nicu to make sure he was ok and to get his feeding established. He was then moved up to the ward with me on sunday morning and we came home on monday.

Wow, what a story! I bet he's going to be a stubborn wee thing! Glad to hear that you are both home and doing well.

Wow Kim, thanks for telling us the story of Timothy's arrival - not without dramas!
I hope you are resting up enough and he is doing really well.
