sands palmerston north
Hi, I just saw off the sands website that they have started meetings once a month. Just wondering if anyone here has been or what to expect from a sands meeting?
Jamies 1 year anniversary passed on the 14th and the two week lead up was very raw. Being on the other side I feel like I survived. I have lived everyday so nothing more will be new or scary. I actually feel like I've turned a corner, its a relief for me and for feeling like he's now ok. Just wanted to share for others still to meet these dates.

Re: sands palmerston north
Hi jamiesmum I saw your post and noticed that nobody had replied - I don't pop into this forum much these days but your post caught my eye. I don't know how Sands Palmerston Nth runs their meetings, but I am part of Sands Auckland Central and facilitate our monthly support group. Ours is very casual, 2 hours long, and is a chance for bereaved parents or family members to talk about their babies, their experiences, ask questions, meet with other people who've had a similar experience, etc. We get people from lots of different backgrounds and most of them say how great it is to be able to talk freely about their grief without being judged or told to get over it, and to be in the company of others who just "get it". Some people find it takes a lot of courage to come to the first meeting, but once they begin to talk with others, it gets easier. I hope that's helpful, did you get to a meeting yet and if so, how did you find it?
