Nice stash Lauriel. I'm in the middle of sewing up my stash. How are you going for covers.
So far I've dyed 24 prefolds, and sewn 4 fitteds (serge edged with snap in soakers, 2 x aqua blue bamboo velour, 1 x hemp fleece & 1 x yellow sherpa with various combos of soakers), 1 newborn cover (I think I've forgotten how little newborns are, it still looks to teeny weeny to me) and 3 small covers. I've got another 4 fitteds cut and ready to be sewn but will do more, just need to get my hands on some scrummy green and blue sherpa. Will post a pic when I've done a few more, it'll look all that more impressive then

Wow Kim, those nappies are great, you must be so pleased with them?
Did Katriana make the whole lot or just the first one? I never thought about sending my own fabric to a professional nappy maker like that. Brilliant! Specially if you have some special PUL or something that you'd like made up.
I love the helicopter fleece! We are very big on helicopters in this house (DH is a heli engineer and FIL is a heli pilot ) and I made about 8 nappies with that fleece a while back.
I'm on a nappy making binge this week too. Angus's mediums (pattern provided by Manda ages ago:wink: ) have finally gotten just a little too tight for comfort and its getting a little embarassing sending him to daycare in those pockets . I made a side snap like the one above that Alana posted and it fits brilliantly, so I'm now itching to make a whole stash just like it. I'll post some pics later.
I've also ordered some honeychild pockets this week so am eagerly awaiting the sound of that mailman again

Cool nappies Kim, I spy some very familiar monkey fleece, am I to rethink who my SS is . I love that animal fleece in the first pic too, oh and that rainbow pul, wherd'ya get that?
Lizzie, would you belive that Gabe is too big for my pattern . I know .I made some of Dittos velcro pockets but they're starting to leak now so I'm thinking they're too small too, her Medium pattern is great, I'm making them for both the kidlets and they're both on the same snap setting....I KNOW . The camera is out of battery power so I'll have to put up some pics later.
Oh, since the old hag has already started to visit (I had a quick visit after 6 weeks, but she's all go now 10 weeks on, rude aye), I'm starting to make some mama pads, might have to look into a moon cup.

Ok, so spill, where'd the cool fleece come from? I must muse find some of that fleece with the rainbow pul and THANK YOU for giving some to us for SS, I really do love it, I keep checking the mail for my black PUL so I can make it up, I've done the animal fleece one with lime green pul and it looks so cool. I'll just have to get some batteries for the camera to take some pics.

Gosh it must be the time of year for nappy-making...I am on a sewing binge at the moment too. Have borrowed Pukeko Possum's snap press for a week again and I am making some more side snap pockets, in really bright colours. I really love that pattern, I've altered it slightly to make the crotch wider and the rise longer. Will also post some pics when I'm done.
I've also made Joel 2 pairs of summer pajama shorts which he is loving. And next on the list is a pair of summer pj pants for my little princess. It's a race to see how many items I can make before Christmas!

I bought the fleece off TNN months ago and it was sitting in my material box.

I am wondering about doing the same thing too. I find I get a little wicking around the legs and I'm sure its because of the narrow crotch. The rise is fine for him at the moment though. I'm just a little hesitant with this pattern because lots of people (non-nappy-nerds!) find it a tricky one to put on as they can't figure out which is front and which is back, also DH finds them fiddly with his big man fingers, and he is a SAHD two days a week so I have to have daddy friendly nappies. Angus also goes to a Barnado's carer two mornings a week, and I don't want to confuddle her either.

I haven't been sewing, but I have been buying A new baby is a perfect excuse for new nappies
So far have bought 3 Baby Harmony seconds, 4 Fuzzi's in the HC clearance and 1 Berry Plush. Ahhhh, teeny tiny nappies!

Emma, would you be interested in purchasing a few home made naps? I have 2 here that have only been used once or twice, they're a small version of Dittos snap pocket pattern and will fit up to about 6kgs or more if baby has skinny legs (not like my thunder thigh man here) I made them and underestimated the size of his thighs. I also have a green velcro pocket thats been used a bit more but not much more. Possibly more too but I have to make some more before I stop squeezing him into them.
Heres a pic, ones taupe with white fleece and white and choc snaps, the other is dark choc with baby blue fleece and baby blue and choc snaps. Totally gorgeous, I am going to make bigger versions for Gabe. I thought he might lose some fat around his thighs and shrink into them but I'm now thinking, ummm, perhaps not. I am so bummed because these are my fav colour combo.
Heres some that may be up for grabs once I've made some bigger ones.
The cow fleece and tiger minkee still fit him but just, so it won't be long before he's out of them. The monkey pul is really too small but I like to squeeze him into it when it's for short periods.
The green one is celery pul with grass green fleece and white velcro.

eh?
don't they realise that the back is where the pocket opening is?

I know! You would be amazed..........my MIL is shocking, I'm always finding discarded nappies (too small) and fitteds without covers or that she has washed each nappy as it was removed from his person
Today I put two new side snap pockets into his nappy bag for the Barnados carer to use, and she chose the fuzzi's instead. Hmmmm, maybe I need to send him along wearing one so that she can see how they work?

Or put a tag on the back so they know which way is back? (Joel asked me to do this on his new pj pants so that he can dress himself!) Yes perhaps sending him along wearing one will help the caregiver - and they can see how cool it looks on!

Well done Alana!
How come you have a third snap? Just wondering if it would make my nappies somewhat superior?

I find the third snap helps hold the underneath layer straighter.

Cort is his Pocket.
This one was made just for him from tweedle/Racheal because we got a teddy bear one off her and took photos of Cort in them and sent them to her, She was so touched she made him his own big boy one.
