Post Re: Leonies updates :)
Hi guys!

Well, after a freak out last week, I had a scan today to ease my fears. Thankfully everythings looking good. And I was amazed that she would tell me the sex at 15.5 weeks!! Its another girl!! Seems to be the in thing at the moment. Also found out that I have a low lying placenta. At first I wasnt too fussed with this discovery, but I have sinse googled it. I know. Im so stupid. So after reading heaps of scary stuff I am now in a new freak out! Yay! Can anyone shed light on the topic?

Hi Leonie...fantastic news about another girl for our ranks!!! HeHe I was right!! For those of you that dont know I did the ring test on Leonie last week and told her it would be a girl!!!

Regarding the low lying placenta, I had this with DS. I had to have (from memory) a scan around the 18 week mark, and if it was still low they would have had to have done a c section (did anyway but it was an emergency one) as the placenta can in effect block the exit path   . I dont think that at this stage there is anything to be worried about, as they can move up and out of the way as you get bigger. Try not to worry about it too much, atleast they know what is happening and will monitor it closely, and if you do end up having a c section then thats just something that you will have to deal with closer to the time.

Congrats on a wee girl :starjump:. I had a friend who had the same thing and the midwife told her that she would probably have to have a c section and that was around her 20 weeks and then she had another scan and found at 25 weeks the placenta had moved so she is ok to have a natural birth. So im with Carley i would not worry too much they can move :cheese:

Had my 20 week scan, and according to the experts everything appears to be normal with my little girl :) I was very anxious about it, especially when the rat wouldnt get into a good position to look at the heart. But luckily she did a roll and we got the photos. :phew:

Awesome Leonie,

I am glad all is good, and that they managed to see everything that they needed to.

I'm off for a growth scan today - more of a mental health scan really, but it will be good to see her again :)

Look forward to more updates ........says she who is really bad at posting herself!!! :?

Take Care

Update time :D

Today I had my first growth scan (24+6) and everything seems to be on track at the moment which is a relief. Really started freaking for a while there that the growth wasnt going to be good, but it has continued steadily since my 20 week scan. So good news. HOWEVER. I am feeling a little worried because she is breech, and has been so far for every scan and consult. Do you think she will go head down? I just dont know because my mum had breech babys twice, and my aunty in laws daughter didnt move either!!! Has anyone on here had a breech baby turn around before birth? (please say yes!!!)

Hiya Chook, sorry I have beenAWOL for a while, busy packing and cleaning house etc for shifting this weekend. Glad that the growth scan was all good, sorry cant help in the breech part, but there is bound to be someone on here who can help.
I will give you a ring and we can catch up for lunch in a couple of weeks...once I sort out the new house.

Hi Leonie,

I don't have breach experience myself but my SIL's first baby was breach. A specialist tried turning her at about 36 weeks I think but that didn't work. She had been the right way up though until around 30 weeks when she did a massive flip! But I also know someone who's baby was breach and also went to a specialist to turn the baby and it did work for her.

Don't worry though because she still has plenty of time to turn by herself and I have been told that 2nd and 3rd etc babies can take longer to get into the correct positions. She might do a somersault while you are vacuuming one day.

Who decided that babies should be allowed to do so much to make us worry before they are even born???

Hi Leonie, apparently I was in an "undesirable" postion until the 7th month, mum went on a "spinning teacups" ride at a festival and I turned! I was born a week after that tho so not a recommended remedy! One of the ladies I met in antenatal class was worried about the position of her baby, but about a week before her due date he decided to sort himself out.

Hi Leonie

Great to hear that things are going well. I haven't had a lot of time to be on here much .... but I often 'lurk' and it's good to read your updates. Looking forward to hearing more and hopefully that bubs will decide to do some sumersaults and turn for you before it's time!

Take care

Update time, and things unfortunately arent looking toooo flash. Had a growth scan yesterday, and a specialist appointment today. Was told that the growth wasn't looking that good, only just within the normal range. Also problems look to be starting with the bloodflow through the placenta which at the moment is sitting on the line that marks normal from not normal. So. Its a hectic scheduel for me over the next couple of weeks. This friday I am to have another doppler scan to measure the bloodflow, ctg on saturday, more of the same, and another growth scan on the 7th of july. I am soooo scared right now. My goal was to get to 34 weeks and now I dont even know if I'll make it that far. I just wanted my baby to be big and fat so I didnt have to deal with extra stress. But most of all I just want her to stay in there. Im 29 weeks on friday and I just feel so much fear at the thought of her coming early. :( :( :( Sorry for ranting I just am feeling rather hopeless.

Awww Leonie...

I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going as planned. It would be sooooo nice to know that everything was going to be perfect but alas...

I'm sure everything will work out though. Your little girl will come when the time is right and if that means she has to come early then I guess that is what is best for her. Obviously the BEST for her would be to stay in mummy's tummy for as long as possible, but as we know sometimes that isn't always the best option at the end of the day.

Try to stay positive and smile! I'll be thinking of you this weekend!

Nat

Ok. So Im feeling a bit more positive at the moment. Had doppler scan on friday and the bloodflow was looking a bit better than last time so thats really good. Also went for a ctg thismorning and that wasnt fun at all, babe wasnt being co operative. She slept for the first 20 mins which is no good because they need them to be awake and moving. So then she woke up and wouldnt stop moving for 20 mins. Couldnt count that either as half the time she wasnt even on the moniter. So we were there for an hour and finally they told me they had what they needed and it was fine.

Got another specialist appt on mon. Im aiming to get through to 32 weeks at the moment, but who knows - maybe more! Will see what she says on monday.
