Hi all
I thought it was about time I popped in and said hello. I know that I am in touch with some of you via Facebook, but I haven't been on here for a while.

Our girls are growing up fast. Caitlyn has recently started school and Taylor is now 15 months! WOW - where did that time go?

We have been having a bit of a hard time with this year (hence the reason for flying underneath the radar for a while). Earlier this year, DH's daughter had a baby girl who was born with brain damage. The circumstances were so scarily similar to Liam, but thankfully she survived and seems to be going well so far. We won't know for a while, the full extent of what the brain damage will mean for her.

The 2nd thing was our wee Taylor has been diagnosed with Severe to Profound deafness. This was a huge shock to us all. We knew something wasn't right, but had been given the impression by Doctors and a Specialist that it was glue ear and grommets would sort the problem out! Not to be unfortunately. We are currently trialling hearing aids and if she is not getting enough from those in terms of hearing speech, she will be getting a cochlear implant.

This really hit me badly, and I must say that I didn't cope very well for a while. I just felt that we have been dealt enough bad luck and starting to wonder who we must have p'd off!!!!

The thing I keep on telling myself is that Taylor is still a delightful little girl - such a huge personality and I guess things could be a lot worse. But I'm sure you know what I mean.

Anyway, didn't really meant to vent - but it just seemed to happen.

I have caught up with some of the photos and updates on here and can't believe how big all our children are getting!

I hope you are all well and sorry again for being a stranger.

Take Care
Tanya

Hi Tanya,

Nice to hear from you! I'm also guilty of not posting much on here these days, but always lurking! It really is quiet on these boards lately.

Your girls are so beautiful, can't believe how grown up Caitlyn looks in her uniform!! And Taylor is just gorgy, she looks so young compared to Coop, even though they're the same age!

Sorry to hear about DH's grand-daughter but glad she seems to be doing so well. And big hugs to you finding out about Taylor's hearing loss, it really is a huge shock to find out a diagnosis like that. I'm sure she will do fabulously with hearing aids, and her speech and language will develop just wonderfully. I'm sure she is being very well looked after by her specialists, but if you ever need any impartial advice or information Tanya, please PM me anytime (I'm an audiologist).

Hi Tanya,

It has been very quiet in here lately! But isn't that a good thing in a way because it means there haven't been too many new angels? Although just because we haven't heard about them in here doesn't mean they don't exist elsewhere! :(

Sorry to hear about DH's granddaughter, although it sounds like she is doing ok now so fingers crossed for a long and happy future for her.

Also sorry to hear about Taylor's hearing. I'm sure all will go well for her with the hearing aids and hopefully you'll feel a lot better about it once it is sorted. It can be a very scary thing for mummy's but at least they are on to it now and she won't develop too much 'bad' speech. I bet she is a real delight and she is absolutely beautiful! What a smile! And Caitlyn is looking lovely in her uniform.

Hi Tanya,

I think a few of us have been MIA, however I can completely understand why you have :(

Its sounds like its been a pretty tough time for you all so I'm sending lots of :bighug: :bighug: your way.

I hope all goes well with Taylor and your DH's granddaughter and would just like to say how gorgeous both of your girls are.

I'm sorry that you have had to deal with all of this on top of losing sweet Liam - its just sooo not fair!

Remember we are all here for you sweet, so post whenever you feel the need :grphug:

From one stranger to another... Your girls are just beautiful. It is sad news about the little one with brain damage, sounds like a miracle she is alive and well, there is someone somewhere to thank for that. And Taylor and her hearing, it is always something I am concerned about eyesight and hearing, not too sure how I would deal with it. But you sound like a very strong lady, and deal very well with the hands in life that are dealt. She looks like a very vibrant wee thing, and from what I see and hear myself the aids these days are quite small and hidden looking. Well done you for staying strong, hugs.

Sara and Lochie
