As requested we have a cloth nappy thread.

Shall we start by listing who's using cloth and what type?

We're using mostly pockets and I've been busily sewing my own (I've made about 8 now). Might have to offer my services if anyone is interested or I'm gonna end up with too many (I just can't stop).

Yep we are using cloth as well.

We use, pockets, some AIO's and got a couple of fitted as well. But I love the pockets.

We're using the good old cloth flats with some flash covers. Still looking for some funky colored covers for summer tho, they all seem to be blue and I want pink!

Ok, I'm not sure how to do this, for those who would like me to make you some nappies, would you prefer to order the fabric and have it sent to me or, me order the fabric and charge per nappy?

I'm going to work on my own pattern in the next couple of days. I figure I could make one, send it to you, you see if you like it then decide if you want more, or let me know what changes need to be made. Remember, I'm just new at nappy making (not to sewing though) and have only made pockets. The ones that I have made are in the wash at the mo but I'll take some pics as soon as they're done and post them for you to see.

Hmmm, if you could do pink covers...

I don't know what would be easier, buying the fabric or just paying you for it coz I wouldn't know where to start? I could send you one of the ones I bought off Baby Online to cut a pattern?

Only if you have time etc. tho...

Kim, what pockets are you using at the moment? Have you been to greenbeans? I've been using their pul and microfleece, and bkt and microfibre for inserts if you want those too. I can do snaps or velcro.

Emma, the pul on greenbeans is a rose pink (not baby pink), very cute though. If you want to send me the one you have and I'll check it out, I'm sure I could whip up something.

Jacqui, did you want to try any?

Keep in mind the time of the year :D

I have Pul and microfleece ones.

I will go browse GB and see what I can find.

How many would you get out of 1/2 a metre?

What brand Kim? I got 3 out of 1/2 metre, you may be able to get 4. You need pul and microfleece, also lastin and braided elastic (both dirt cheap).

Sounds good Manda, but like I said only if you have time! I'll send you the one I have. It has aplix to fasten it so I'll need to get some of that as well. Do I get that from Green Beanz? Will check out the rose pink on Green Beanz.

Emma, yeah you can get the aplix from greenbeans, I only have fluro pink or red here, so you would need to get some, I can do snaps if you prefer, I've got pink, black, white or melon atm. As far as time goes, I'll see how I go, as long as you know not to expect anything real soon.

Kim, could you measure Timothys waist for me, just to let me know if I need to put extra closures (snaps or aplix, whatever you choose) on to make them smaller round the waist.

Umm not sure what he weighs, we see plunket in the next few weeks.

I will measure him once I can find my sewing tape measure.

I would prefer snaps, not too keen on aplix.

Do I need to buy the snaps?

Kim

Hi Kim, I've pm'd you re the snaps, if you want any other colours let me know, they're pretty well priced 50 are $6, I was thinking peraps I could do something like charge $2 per nappy to snap, I use 6 full sets plus an extra 8 sockets which I need to get separetly because of the extra usage iykwim.

Also, do you know what pattern the ones that were made for you are. I have both wee weka patterns from tnn if you prefer me just to make those.

Ok, so here's my latest creation, it's my own design adapted from a few other pocket naps out there. Ignore the seam down the middle, I made it out of scraps, although it will still work the same, and the snap positions may vary a little, I'm still working on the best placement for them.

Heres a few angles and a couple of them being modelled by my little helper. I did try to reduce the size, I'm not quite sure what happened, hopefully you can see them ok.
