Hi everyone,
Thank you for all the well wishes and words of congrats
I've been hanging to get on here and show you all some pics, but have no internet at the moment which sux
but I have managed to get get access for the next half hour, so here is my short birth story and a few pics of darling new boy
I can’t believe that I get to introduce you all to my new wee bubs just over a year after his big brother was born.
Caden Flynn Scott was born 14 April 2007 at 5.05pm 6lb 14oz and 52cm long.
We arrive at the hospital at 9am for our scheduled induction and for some reason I’m more nervous this time round I think it’s because I remember very clearly how painful it’s going to be (that’s really the reason they recommend you wait a couple of years before conceiving again) so anyway, before they do anything I’m hooked up to the ctg for monitoring for about half hour and then finally at 10am I’m checked to see how favourable (gotta love that word) my cervix is, which apparently is quite favourable, 21/2 cm dilated and almost 100% effaced, so my midwife just wants to break my waters, and no gel, but the specialist says no, she wants me to have the gel to get some contractions going, so gel inserted and again we wait and we wait and we walk and nothing not even a niggle, I’m told that my waters will be broken 6 hours after the gel at about 4pm, so I’m just waiting anxiously for then, but at about 3 I start having some mild contractions at 3mins apart, so midwife moves me to delivery suite and at 3.30 my waters are broken, so now officially in established labour, after my waters have broken I go from 3cm dilated to 4 and contractions continue to come every 3 minutes, again I have to be monitored to make sure bubs is all good, at about 4.15 I am able to get into the birthing pool, contractions are still 3 minutes apart but lasting longer and are quite strong, the pool is a very welcome distraction, I was going to be having a water birth but my specialist would not allow it because of my history. At about 4.45 I feel things are starting to speed up and that bubs is not far from making his entrance so head back to my room, contractions are now very strong and at 5.00 I feel my first urge to push, so I have to manoeuvre myself off the birth ball and up onto the bed, which I manage to do just in time for the second urge and at 5.05pm Caden, just like his brother rocketed into this world, crying, such a blissful sound, and he was placed upon my chest where we snuggled until his cord stopped pulsing. Finally the birth I had been dreaming about.
Although, Caden, just like his brothers had become tangled in his cord, with it being wrapped around his leg, up over his body and wrapped loosely (thank god) around his neck, so again I’m so glad I chose to induce.
Another quick labour of two hours and thankfully no tears so no stitches.
I’m just so in love with our newest addition to the family.
We are all doing well, Caden is a wonderful sleeper only waking once a night at about 4am, in fact I had to wake him at 4 this morning then again at 8.45am, but I'm not worried as he is feeding every 3 hours during the day, he's just so placid, long may it continue
Kairyn is rather intrigued by his little brother and we have moments of love and gentleness and moments of seeing if he can pull Cadens ear off, but all is good and I'm just on
Well had better go for now and hopefully in the next couple of days I will have internet again.
Take care everyone
